Holiday: Sandown, Isle of Wight in the
fabulous Goldcrest self catering cottage for a long weekend, week or short break. In Sandown
explore and enjoy the island experience without the hassle of foreign
travel. Your seaside get away in England is our inspiration, so sit
back, get ready to unwind – we’ve got it covered.
Sleeping up to six guests the bungalow accommodation comprises two
double bedrooms, lounge with an additional sofa bed, kitchen, bathroom,
private driveway parking for two cars, and a patio courtyard garden
ideal for barbeques. We’ve thought of everything, so you’ll find the BBQ
stored in the garden shed when you want to create culinary magic with
some al fresco wining and dining on those warm summer evenings – no need
to go out and buy those tiny disposable ones.
The self catering holiday cottage’s master bedroom features two single beds that can also
be set up as one super king size six-foot wide bed giving you
flexibility should you need a twin room or a double. Just let us know
which you’d prefer after booking your holiday. Sandown, Isle of Wight is
our home town, so even last minute adjustments can be made if you need
them as we’re close by to provide excellent customer service. The second
bedroom has a standard 4’ 6” double bed, and the sofa bed in the lounge
is a three seater which gives a 4’ 6” wide double bed – standard sofa
beds are only four feet wide, but that extra six inches really make a
difference to a great night’s sleep. We’ve also chosen the best sofa bed
mattress too, which is pocket sprung for extra comfort rather than just
the thinner standard spring. If you’re comparing holiday accommodation,
it’s well worth checking these types of points because a restful
comfortable sleep gives you the energy to have a fantastic and memorable
stay on the Isle of Wight. We want you to come back, so we provide a
home away from home to enjoy.
Location to amenities is key when it comes to
choosing a holiday venue, and Goldcrest cottage
delivers. Tesco Express is only a couple of minutes stroll, where,
should you choose not to fry up a full English in the contemporary
kitchen, you can find fresh croissants and cappuccino to surprise your
loved one with breakfast in bed. When you nip around the corner to
Tesco’s to stock up, you’ll notice that Sandown road has bus stops to
explore the island via all the main bus routes should you fancy leaving
the car behind to really relax. Island Rover tickets can be purchased on
board that let you roam free, getting on and off anywhere you want to
explore. Closer to home, Sandown, Lake, and Shanklin all have beaches,
and the cliff path joins all three where you can breathe in stunning
views and breathe out daily stresses to give you an inspiring holiday.
Sandown Isle of Wight walking maps are provided in your welcome folder
so that you can go and explore the area with confidence when you fancy a
stroll to the cliff path or want to venture down to the promenade to
find the water sports facilities on Lake beach.
Goldcrest cottage is close to plenty of take-aways including a fish and chip shop, two
Chinese's, an Indian takeaway and restaurant, and one selling pizzas and
burgers. Venturing up Newport Road in Hale Common, you’ll find The
Fighting Cocks which is a large family friendly pub and restaurant with
free parking. KFC, Aldi and Morrisons supermarkets can also be found
along Newport Road in Lake, and are marked on your welcome map for easy access.
If you’re coming over without a car, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin have their
own train stations for easy access across the island - disembark at Lake
railway station for the quickest route to Goldcrest as Sandown station
is a couple more minutes along the track. If you fly in by light
aircraft or gyrocopter (lucky you), Lake is home to Sandown airfield
which is further along the Newport road on the right hand side past
Morrisons, so Goldcrest cottage is just a 10-15 minute walk or five
minutes by bus or taxi from there. The airfield hosts loads of events
all season including music and BBQs, cycle races, fun runs, car boot
sales, classic car shows and offers free car parking. It also houses the
aircraft museum and giant rocket from the island’s space race days.
Among a multitude of local attractions to choose from on the isle,
particularly close to the bungalow include Los Altos park, the Roman
Villa, Robin Hill Country Park which is an 88-acre outdoor adventure
site that also puts on major events all year, the Garlic Farm and their
separate Garlic Festival site as well as the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, Sandown Pier, Amazon
World and just a short distance away (approx 2 miles) from Shanklin
Chine and old village.
Facilities in the self catering cottage include a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, full sized oven,
fridge freezer and microwave to make the best experience of those little
chores that still need doing on holiday. Sandown, Isle of Wight has many
cafs and restaurants as does Shanklin esplanade when you prefer to have
lunch out and about instead. When you’re eating in, the bungalow’s
lounge/diner has a dining table and chairs that comfortably seat six
guests.
